Medicare Advantage Insurance

Medicare Advantage Insurance is the new name for Medicare + Choice Plans (also called Medicare Part C).

It expands health care options for Medicare beneficiaries through a private senior health insurance plan.

Medicare Advantage Plans may be less expensive and may offer some benefits that are not covered by the Original Medicare.

Here are your choices of Medicare Advantage plans:

• Medicare Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)
• Medicare Point-of-Service (POS) Plan
• Medicare Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
• Medicare Fee-for-Service (FFS) Medicare Specialty Plans

In some Medicare Advantage plans, you can only see doctors from within the plan’s network. Others allow you to choose from both in- and out-of-network providers.

Overall, however, out-of-network services cost more.

Keep in mind though that each of these plans has its own advantages and limitations, and no option will be right for everyone.

You do not have to change if you are happy with how you currently receive Medicare benefits.

You should not change to a new program until you have thoroughly analyzed it and determined how you would benefit from it.
